Are there any real advantages to a Windows Home Server other than remote access and backing up multimedia?

Remote File Backup
SoCal asked:

I have been following Windows Home Media Servers but. I really do not see much of an advantage to them. Am I wrong? Presently, I have a Network Drive which I am storing my files on and are being backed up nightly onto a USB drive. I am also using Carbonite to backup my important files as well.

I do not see much of an advantage over my current setup besides remote access and file sharing. Am I missing something ?

Yeah, you’ve missed setting up remote access on your current rig.
